TUCSON, Ariz., (March 24, 2025) — The Metabolic Terrain Institute of Health (MTIH) and the leadership team that helped launch the metabolic health movement are excited to announce a strategic realignment that deepens the nonprofit’s focus on research and patient access while empowering a new era of for-profit innovation in metabolic health.
MTIH was founded in 2020 as a nonprofit dedicated to advancing metabolic health through patient grants, practitioner education, and cutting-edge research. As that mission evolved, the need for scalable tools, therapies, and platforms became clear—spurring the creation of separate, for-profit ventures. This next chapter ensures each organization can operate with ethical clarity and mission-driven precision.
Key Changes Include:
A Renewed Focus for MTIH
In 2024, MTIH opened its own metabolic research laboratory, marking a major milestone. With this expansion came the recognition that the nonprofit needed focused scientific leadership to guide its growing research and patient access initiatives. MTIH has appointed Daniele Pasatieri, MHA, BSN, RN, as its new Executive Director. Daniele brings over 25 years of executive-level experience in oncology, stem cell transplant and cellular therapy, and healthcare operations. She has led nationally recognized blood and marrow transplant programs, spearheaded cutting-edge clinical trials, and built multidisciplinary teams within the world’s largest cellular therapy networks. Her expertise in regulatory strategy, quality oversight, and innovation in cancer therapeutics makes her uniquely suited to lead MTIH into its next era. Under Daniele’s leadership, MTIH is sharpening its focus around three core pillars:Metabolic Science & Innovation – Advancing metabolic research by integrating cutting-edge fields like nutrigenomics, pharmacogenomics, and integrative therapies to create precision metabolic therapies.
Patient Pathways & Funding – Expanding financial grants and personalized care navigation to remove barriers to treatment.
Transformative Cancer Care – Building a new model of integrative care grounded in metabolic health and whole-person healing.
Independent Growth of For-Profit Ventures
To eliminate any potential conflict of interest and ensure focused leadership, two of MTIH’s original co-founders — Cindy Kennedy, CEO, and Dr. Nasha Winters, CMO — have stepped away from their operational roles in the nonprofit. They now lead a portfolio of mission-aligned, for-profit companies under a newly formed umbrella, Terrain Holding Company. These ventures include:MTOMICS, a precision health tech platform supporting clinicians and patients applying the metabolic approach.
Metabolic Regen, the new home of the education programs initially developed within MTIH.
MitoVida, a science-driven supplement company inspired by the discoveries coming out of MTIH’s research lab.
Sustained Alignment and Shared Purpose
Though now fully separate entities, the for-profit companies remain deeply committed to the mission that launched them. A portion of their profits will be directed to MTIH, and they will continue to support the nonprofit’s research and patient access initiatives through aligned partnerships and collaborative innovation.
“This structure gives everyone the space to do what they do best,” said Cindy Kennedy, CEO of Terrain Holding Company. “The nonprofit can focus on science and access, and the companies can focus on innovation and scale—while working in lockstep toward the same goal: transforming healthcare through a metabolic lens.”
“Daniele brings an extraordinary combination of vision, expertise, and heart,” added Dr. Nasha Winters, Chief Medical Officer. “Her leadership ensures that MTIH will continue to lead in the areas that matter most: research, patient support, and metabolic integrity.”
Together, these changes represent not a split—but a powerful unification of purpose, designed to elevate the metabolic health movement and expand its impact on patients, providers, and communities worldwide.
